The Address Management Directorate provides operational and engineering expertise and advice to the area directors who deal with operational and engineering issues related to the use and management of addresses in the internet, namely the Operations and Management and Internet areas. The addresses that are considered by this directorate include IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, including unicast, multicast and other types. In addition, the directorate may be used as a source for others desiring such expertise, e.g., the RIRs or the IAB, at their discretion.

The directorate is composed of experts in internet operations, routing, and IPv4/IPv6 architecture.
