Wisdom I agree with.

Look folks I am trying to ship a product I think doing this is prudent
for now.  Once the standards folks (me included) define a better
solution I will do that too.  I am shipping this to the public for now.
Still not sure on what options I should give them in the user interface
to set up what happens though.
