  | Hmmm. already wrote the code to do this and it work and I said so in
  | my first response to your mail ????

Maybe I misread Francis' message, but I thought he was saying something
different than your message suggested. You said ...

	|| The node can do the update or the DHCPv6
	|| server for the node.

While I have no doubt that's true, it isn't the case that is of interest,
and it isn't what I thought that Francis was proposing.

That is, right now, I'm only interested in the case where there is no
DHCPv6 server (stateless autoconf) and the node has no authority to do
anything to the appropriate DNS server. Hence, something else would
have to do the update, some other way.

Of course, I may have totally misunderstood Francis' idea, which is why I
asked for more details.

It's also possible that your code already does something which you didn't
explicitly say, or which I just missed (then, and again now).

  | This runs now on Compaq Tru64 UNIX. If you have an Alpha you can pull
  | our v6 kit and test it at munnrai.

I do (munnari is an alpha, though it isn't going to start running any
experimental code). I have run an earlier version of your code, it
worked fine, then the alphastation I was running it on got an updated
version of Dunix (this was before the Tru64 name appeared) and the
IPv6 stuff vanished... I did look at getting an updated version, but
it seemed to want more red tape than I felt like indulging in, so I
didn't bother (for the earlier version it was just there, and I ftp'd
and installed it). I haven't looked to see what the current procedure is
for a while though, so I guess I should go back to your web site and
have another look.
