ENDS0bis document
Dear Colleagues
Paul Vixie has volunteered to update the his RFC2671 ENDS0 specification
and work on advancing it along the standards track.
This work is inside our new charter and does not require charter change,
only a milestone update.
The chair and Paul have set the goals for this effort to be:
Reflect experiences and changes since RFC2671
Minimize any changes
Modernize the text (RFC2119 word usage)
We hope that RFC2671bis can be issued as Draft Standard but until the
working group reviews has taken place, the chair is not sure if we need
to reissue as Proposed Standard.
The time line for the document is
Dec 2007 Initial version
Feb 2008 Working group last call
Mar 2008 Advancement to IESG
If WG wants to issue the document as Draft Standard we will need
an interoperabilty report to be submitted with the document.
The time line for that effort is:
Jan 2008 Determination of DS or PS status.
Feb 2008 Interoperabilty testing
Mar 2008 Interoperabilty report issued.
This is an aggressive schedule but given that we have a motivated
editor and as most of the changes in the document should be non
controversial ones, it is a realistic one.
